Chapter 7 – Organization

One topic that got my attention was this Alone Time. Well, this chapter was saying that, lone time or being alone means having your zone. They say interruption is your enemy. But why is that it is not suitable for me then?

Well, I’m into interruption. To think, working over the internet is a big interruption. But I can’t take this thing off me duly because it is one way of extending my knowledge to things. One interruption that seems to give meaning still would be the use of Twitter. Twitter for me is very useful in stuffs. I use it to extend my knowledge to things I love, and that is technology. I got to follow some big blogging company like Techcrunch, Broadsheet Company like Inquirer.net, C Net News, and a lot more. I have them as my friends, that I read their articles. I know more about latest gadgets and gizmos coming. Even if its neither midnight nor noon already I don’t care, I care about I’m enjoying what I am doing. Even if I’m not yet done with my homework however i enjoyed having those “interruptions” with me, I’m still happy about it.

It is not worth the reason by having those interruptions. Getting real is pointing us that, we should have our own zone, to have a lone time to work things out. Well, this got my attention due to the fact that I don’t use this method. I’m not into the method they were pointing, but I guess this would really great if I can adapt to what they seem to point to us.

Another topic that got my attention was this Meeting are toxic. Well, I agree with what it tells us. Meeting usually tend to waste our time and efforts. Meetings are usually useless when you tend to meet your group mates at a regular time cost.

I remember then when I used to call a meeting either here in the academe or in national team, where I used to be the team captain. When I call a meeting, usually i got few attendees. I look at myself as a dumb leader because of this, not having enough attendees, not having their full blown attention. Hayyzz, but I think of, if I am not an effective leader why that is my team mates are afraid of me? When I train back, they were all at their selves and tend not to move much and talk much. Well, let me go back to what the topic has to say. In a meeting, we are not into information sharing but a quick run through of what will be going. We don’t need much attention to have an effective project, we just need to polish once or twice that is.

Chapter 6 – Process

In this chapter here we see what it mean to process things out. In developing software doesn’t mean you develop it fully on the first run. When you read this chapter here you will seek knowledge on how-to.
I imagined me before, when I was a young 2nd year student in Don Bosco Makati, we were taught how to build websites. I was the one who’s first in class in the field of building WebPages. My teacher even exempts me from class duly because I was in the lead then. I used to build hard and heavy websites, mainly because I was not fully on-the-knowledge of ethics when it comes to websites. But I remember then that, when I was building our Taekwondo club website I used this animation effects from animation factory before [I don’t know if they still in the field]. Despite of this heavy websites I made, I remember that I build it in process. I have my own process of building my site that I didn’t give up everything just on one sitting. I launched my site with a lot of markings of animated “under construction”, with all those tables which are not fully at scale.
This chapter is for me, I remember the things I used to have even if I am still immature. Even if I don’t get the codes I used to have, I still pursue to use it and work on with it. With a bunch of hard work and passion in doing website, I came with this small piece of website that leads me in developing websites for organizations like Jet1 club – a motorcyclist group having their passion in motor bikes specifically Jet1.
What this chapter want to point to us is that, in building a website we don’t need to give everything at finish everything in a snap. You need a lot of patience in doing software. As what the chapter says, you don’t expect to get it on your first time. Maybe you can but not all can get it right.
In this chapter it also tackles about some processes. To be in a team or even on your own, still brain storming is important. Not a thing would happen if you don’t. Remember correct planning would lead to a nice work. Sketching plan is another thing. It is better to sketch thing and do a mock draft of everything before you fully load it.
Well, that would be for my chapter 6.

Chapter 5 – Feature Selection

In this selection, we shall say it points out to one big thing, the essentiality of one’s program or application. They want to give us the fact that, all those small things that need to be supplied in your application should be seen. As what the selection Half, Not Half-Assed was put into words is that, we should stick to what is truly essential, what is truly needed on your application. You don’t need to take all those fancy filigrees just make your application better, it only takes a simple who and ha to give yourself a thing.

A continuation of essential was published in the next selection. Still, essential that was the key point of the topic.
The idea now is, everything that is important should be published and leave all the unnecessary features for later improvements. By this, you will learn how to maximize your resource as well as learn how to value time. The important thing here is, in developing an application, you should accomplish what is needed, manipulate the application in a sense that you know what is needed from the not, learn to value money and resource by this you will know how to live with and lastly it should work.

The lesson perhaps in this chapter is that, when producing an application, the common assumption of building it big to make it successful is not the best choice. Things don’t go that way anymore, there are too many other applications that users can shift to if yours seem insufficient for their needs. Why spend so much money, time, and effort, for a feature request whose costs demeans its benefits? Why do you have to keep your promises to something that would otherwise be misleading on your part? In knowing what to prioritize, in what to implement from that which shouldn’t be, you can create a software that doesn’t need advertising or marketing just to sell it – all you need is simplicity, and through simplicity, you gain not only customer satisfaction or loyalty, but the most rewarding of it all: their word of mouth. Hey, Vista Battery Saver started the same way these guys did their programs, and even with just nimble features, it’s still a hit worldwide.

The lesson in this chapter is that, when producing an application, we are not bound to build big just to satisfy and tell ourselves that we are successful in dealing so. Why spend nths of pesos/dollars dealing with a big scope of project when you can have a simple but powerful one. Time, money, effort in dealing so will be a scrap if we don’t measure what we’ve got. Getting tackles the virtue of simplicity. In getting real, the lesson is not only applicable for building application and alike but in the real view of life it would always be welcome. Being simple in everything would give you a head start of what true to life means.
